Living in the light

FORGIVE me, Lord, of my sinful ways. In your sight, I exalt myself against you every time I sin. In your eyes, I make a god out of myself, every time I do things unpleasing to you. My very self become an idol, every time I follow my own earthly desires and walk away from your truth, breaking the First Commandment (Exodus 20:1-4). Moment by moment, help me to hate every unholy thought, every evil thing, that exalt itself against you (2 Corinthians 10:5). Guide me, Lord, to righteous living (Matthew 6:33). I desire that I may not sin against you; please, let the light of your Word reign in my being (Psalm 119:11). Thank you, that I can rejoice in you, Lord, for you have made me righteous in your sight, not by my own good works, but by the blood of Lamb. I am forever grateful to you, Jesus, my Lord and Savior, because you tirelessly help me to grow in holiness for your glory (1 Corinthians 1:30).

"For you, LORD, are the Most High in over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods. Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guides the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hands of the wicked. Light shines on the righteous and joy on the upright in heart. Rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name." (Psalm 97:9-12)
